How to Create Coupons for Products

Coupons support both one-time and recurring products, including main and bump products in V2 Funnels.

Applied coupon codes are not applicable on one-click upsells.

Coupons are great for enticing sales! In this article, we’ll break down the basics of coupons so you know how to get the most out of them.

How to create and add coupons to products

Please Note:

• Coupon codes are not case-sensitive and will be converted to uppercase.
• Spaces and special characters are not supported formats when creating coupon codes.
• End customers can redeem a coupon code to get 100% off on the cart value. They will still need to enter card details to save credit card info if required for upsells in the next steps.
• Only Stripe can be used to give 100% off on order amounts; this will not work with PayPal. If both Stripe and PayPal exist, the PayPal option will be hidden.
• The small text, "Card details will be used for verification purposes," will appear beside the card element during a $0 checkout.

A coupon is an offer made by a business or organization (usually in exchange for payment) where you receive a discount on a purchase.

What type of Coupons are supported?

There are two ways to use a coupon:

1. Percentage Coupon: Offers a percentage-based discount on the order value.
2. Fixed Coupon: Offers a fixed discount regardless of order value.

Please Note:

• Customers can redeem a coupon code for a 100% discount on cart value. They will still need to enter card details if required for upsells in subsequent steps.
• Only Stripe supports a 100% discount on order amounts, and this will not work with PayPal. If both Stripe and PayPal are available, PayPal will be hidden.
• During $0 checkout, the message "Card details will be used for verification purposes" will appear beside the card element.

Please Note:

1. Coupon application details are visible in the order details as a line item alongside individual products.
2. The coupon discount shown beside each product reflects the discount value per product.
3. The discount applied will be distributed according to product value weights:
   • For cart-level discounts, the distribution will be across all products (one-time only).
   • For discounts tied to specific products, the discount applies only to the selected items and will be distributed by product value weight (one-time products only).

What is the coupon name? Is it unique?
Coupon names refer to coupons internally. They do not need to be unique, but unique names are recommended for identification.

What is meant by limiting the total number of times a coupon code can be redeemed?
This option limits the total number of successful redemptions, not the number of unique users redeeming it.

What is meant by limiting to selected products?
This restricts the coupon usage to specific products only. For example, if restricted to Product A, the coupon applies only to Product A.

What is the redemption count shown in the list view?
This count reflects the total successful redemptions of the coupon code.

Will the coupons text box appear automatically in order forms?
If a valid coupon code exists for an order form, the coupon text box will appear. Otherwise, it won’t show.

I don't want to show the Apply coupon text box on my order form. How do I do that?
Disable the "Enable coupon codes" toggle in the builder for that order form.

How to see the orders in which the coupon code has been applied?
Select Actions ➝ View History. This will redirect to the orders page with orders where the coupon code was successfully applied.

Order details include the coupon code and discount for each product if the code was successfully applied.

I want to set up a free product(s); is this supported?
Yes, this is possible with a 100% OFF coupon code. Customers still need to enter their card details if required for upsells/downsells in subsequent steps. Currently, only Stripe can offer a 100% discount, as PayPal will be hidden if both are available.
