Modified on Wed, 28 Aug at 4:40 PM

A Chat Widget is an essential tool for engaging with your website visitors, helping you to connect with them effortlessly, reduce their chances of leaving, and ultimately generate more leads. We’re here to guide you through the process of creating a Chat Widget that aligns perfectly with your brand and fulfills your specific requirements.

How to Create a New Chat Widget

To begin, navigate to the Chat Widget section under Sites and click on the +New button. You’ll be prompted to choose from different types of Chat Widgets: SMS/Email Chats, Live Chat, or WhatsApp. By default, an SMS/Email chat widget will be added, but you can create multiple widgets to suit your needs.

Personalizing Your Chat Widget

Customizing your Chat Widget is key to making it a true reflection of your brand. When you create a new widget, you’ll be taken directly to the customization options. If you need to modify an existing widget, click on the three dots icon next to the widget and select Edit.

Edit Chat Widget

Customization is organized into three main sections: Widget, Chat Window, and Messaging.

Customization Tabs

Widget Customization

The Widget tab allows you to define the visual aspects of the Chat Widget. Here, you can adjust the colors, add images, choose the position on the screen, and tweak other appearance-related settings to ensure it fits seamlessly with your website’s design.

Chat Window Customization

The Chat Window section focuses on the user’s messaging experience. Depending on the type of Chat Widget you’ve chosen, you can customize the title, introductory message, and decide whether to enable the email field and branding options.

Chat Window Settings

For SMS/Email Chat Widgets, you have the option to enable a consent checkbox for HIPAA compliance and include a legal consent message.

If you're using a Live Chat Widget, you can customize the messages for when a chat is assigned or closed. The Live Chat Message settings allow you to control the welcome message and the user’s experience during the chat, while the Live Chat Closed settings manage what happens after the chat ends.

Live Chat Settings

Messaging Customization

In the Messaging tab, you can set the language of the Chat Widget and customize the messages that acknowledge and conclude a chat.

Messaging Settings

The specific messages available for customization will depend on the type of Chat Widget you selected. For instance, with the Live Chat option, you can modify additional messages, such as those related to feedback.

Saving Your Changes

Once you’ve completed your customization, don’t forget to click Save. If the Chat Widget has already been installed on your website, saving will automatically apply the updates to the live version.

With these steps, you’re now equipped to create and tailor a Chat Widget that perfectly represents your brand, facilitates customer interaction, and ensures that no engagement opportunity is missed.
